Hi all,
Just wanted to get clarification on a couple of thing regarding yabbie and shrimp collection in the Murray River. From what I understand from the NSW Fisheries web site is that Yabbie traps are basically banned East of the Newell Highway and anywhere on the Murray upstream of the Echuca road bridge (and a couple of other spots), and Yabbie traps are allowed east of the Newell Highway as long as the have the entry restriction on them. Have I read this right? There is no mention on restrictions on collection of fresh water shrimp and I assume ( not always a good idea) that there are none. Also what qualifys as a Yabby and a Shrimp trap, I have found references to shrimp traps but nothing on dimensions such as net size, entry size, and overall trap size. Does anyone have any info on where to get traps or how to make them? Thanks Dave |
