Default Kinami Palm Tree Hook Problem

Ok, I have tried to maximize the hook ups with this bait as best I can. I
use an over sized 5/0 Extra wide gap hook. It still blocks to much of the
point section of the hook way to much. I lost a nice LM yesterday because
of this. It only had about a 3/32nds of the hook point exposed when I got
the bait back in the boat. The barb was not exposed at all. It wasn't a
huge bass, but it would have made siz or seven places difference in our
finish.

I have considered switching to a tube, and that would probably be ok for
weighted applications like flipping trash, but it still won't solve
weightless problems since the tube doesn't have the meat to flip weightless.
