Default First Tournament of the Year

Joe and I fished our first tournament of the year yesterday morning on Percy
Priest Lake. We fished out of Fate Sanders Marina which is not either one of
ours local area. After take off, Joe remembered that he had left his fishing
license in his car, which was actually at another launch site just about a
minute away, so we headed over to get that taken care of.

Joe boarded the boat again, and we trolled over to our first area. I think I
was still fiddling around with my three tangled rods when he told me he had
a fish on. I dropped my rods and headed for the net. After figuring out how
to assemble the thing, and reassemble it... I leaned over the boat to net
his fish. Sounds easy, but the fish dove under the boat in one last ditch
effort to get away and I leaned over too! If it weren't for Joe to grab the
back of my jacket, I would have ended up fishing the rest of the day soaking
wet! Joe finally got the fish right in front of me and I got the net under
it. 3lb's of largemouth in only three casts! The morning was looking good!

I wished that I could say that the rest of the day went that way, but
unfortunately there are witnesses. So, we went to the scales with only the
one fish in the livewell. We did catch more fish, and even a turtle tasted
Joes Rattle Trap, but non would touch the 15" mark on the board.

It was a beautiful day regardless of the fishing, but thunderstorms were
moving into the area while we were post-fishing, so we called it a day and
headed back to the ramp. Joe's fish put us in 8th place in the points race,
and hopefully I can help him add to that in a couple of weeks on Center
Hill.

Charles, that was a great start, too bad it went sour on you. But 8th in
the points is a good begining!
Good luck at Center Hill!

What part of Michigan you from, because most of the lakes in SE are clear
and open?

All the Huron chain of lakes are clear guys, if you want to fish! Water is
still in the upper 30's for the most part, but open and fishable.

Thanks John! As long as Joe is there to catch em... I can net em! LOL

There's one team there that always manages to keep the first place spot
every year, and I'd sure like to help take it away from them just once!

All right! No Aaron Martens in this group!
Some day I should let that drop. Not today. Good job guys! I am stuck
catching walleyes so far.

Funny you should mention that.... I thought of him when I decided to ask
Charles to run us over so I could pick it up. I thought we had a good chance
of loading the boat last Saturday, and a decent bass on the third cast
bolstered that feeling. Last thing I wanted was to be DQ'd for illegally
taking fish (no license).
