Distraught transplant seeks advice

About a month ago, I was informed by my employer that I will be transferred
to Boston, MA, from Lake Charles, Louisiana. From a fishing standpoint, I
view this as a disaster. Here, I have year-round access to Redfish, Speckled
Trout, Tripletail, Flounder, Croakers, Spanish Mackerel and Sheepshead, and
within a short drive, Tuna, Pompano, Dolphin, Tarpon, numerous Snapper
species (in season), King Mackerel, Wahoo, Amberjack, Triggerfish, Grouper,
Lemonfish and even various billfish, all without much trouble (i.e., inshore
or within a short run from shore). All I really hear about in the Boston
area is bluefish (generally considered a trash/bait fish here) and stripers
and then only when they are "running." Somebody brighten my day, please.

no problem, after all, you can fish for cod from the surf at night in
the winter.

um, let's see, go out to the cape for all the clams you want.

ah, yes, there are some salter (sea run brook trout) streams, there are
some wild trout on the cape and throughout MA, there's bluegill ponds,
um, yes, that's about it....

I know how you feel being from Louisiana also (between New Orleans and Baton
Rouge). The company I work for was going through reorganization. They were
shutting down units and selling off plants. They notified all hourly
employees in affected plants the opportunity to transfer to another location
that was not being shutdown or work force reduced. I worked in one of the
plants that was on the chopping block. I looked at all my options and even
flew out of state for interviews with other locations that I may want to
transfer to. I even interviewed with other employers out of state. I
decided it was not worth leaving the Bayou state where a man can go duck and
goose hunting in the morning, then take a trip offshore and catch some fish
and return in time to catch a limit of specks and reds before retiring for
the night. There is nothing like a triple delight to wear a man down.

Stay home and find another job. By the way, Miller is a popular name in
that area of the state, are you related to a Charles and Danette Miller from
Jennings?

Unemployment is undoubtably better than Boston (the cultural center of
the great Gay state). The people of Boston are so very
....."Bostonish". Rude, crude, self-centered and self absorbed. The
state of Ma. is directed by liberal judges and such moral giants as
Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. Were I you I'd plant my feet solidly in
La. Better to live in a hollow log in a bayou than the finest home on
