I've taken mine out last year on Devil's Hole Run and another sweet little stream that prefers to remain anonymous, and the little rod was really a pleasure to use. I think it's a good choice in the $120 price range. Really though, IME, fiberglass has a better feel in the small sizes than does graphite. My first "real" flyrod was a 7' Wright & McGill; I learned to cast with that thing, and it's still a pretty nice litle rod, except for the fact that, again IMO, 6wt is too heavy for a little rod. I also have a 7'9" Shakespeare "Wond0rod" [sic], that's a swell rod, but for the fact that it's a 7wt. Good wooded lakeshore bass rod. This summer I picked up on eBay a 7' 5wt South Bend Outdoorsman glass rod in unused condition. Now I won't try to kid you that it's pretty like an Orvis or a Winston rod; nobody's going to look at it and think you've got a job, but boy let me tell you what, that little rod casts about as well as you could like - any better and it would be unethical to use it. Steffan Brothers sell blanks and completed fiberglass rods that are well-spoken of on the glass rod ezboard. They have a 6' 2wt 2 piece blank that's calling...
