Default Scorpion

Harry,

I wanted to get your opinion on those Shimano Scorpion reels. I remember
from the NWC you mentioning that you liked them, and wanted to get your
insight after a few more months of using it. I was looking for a good
free spinning reel for flipping and pitching.

Thanks man,

Chris

Chris I've used a chronarch101 sf and a curado 201 bsf for a year and both
worked great and are less than a scorpion. I can't tell much difference

I have a Scorpion that Harry got from Bill's for a prize at the MTC two
years ago. It is on Dave's MTC rod. The Scorpion is a great pitching
reel, very smooth and light. It is as good as the Calcutta's I have
that I also use for pitching. Those are the only two reels that I use
for that.

I sent about 7-8 reels into Don Heck for cleaning and bearing replacement. I
think there's 3 Scorpions in the bunch, so I can't wait to see how all of my
reels will be with the new bearing. I too do a lot of pitching, since
Charles and Dave taught me how, and the smoothness really comes into play
while doing so.

I'm ready to get two more, having used them for over the past year or so, I
am very pleased with the performance. Never let me down once, great casting
smooth flipping and pitching reel. Can find them on e-bay for a decent price
also
