I could look this up online, but its simpler to post here. :-)

When does the openwater season begin in Maine for trout, togue and other
freshwater fly fishing? I'm going to be in state for the last week of
March, first week of April, and some of the southern water might be less
solid by then. If so, I'd like to fish.

Nevermind.....April 1 is opening season statewide. Which sucks, because I
will probaby be flying back here on March 31. Where can a guy fish during
the window of March 20-31 between Maine and DC?

Why would someone want to live where the fishing season closes. Move to a
state where you can fish year round wihout freezing your #%$ off.

Myron as you drive through Ct. pull off at exit 72 I think anyway the
route 72 exit off 84 take a left go to bottom of hill on the righthand
side of the bridge is catch and release fishing open year round trophy
trout area also

Okay, with those directions, I'm pretty certain that I'm either going to be
totally lost, or else fishing in someone's backyard swimming pool. Exit 69
off of whcih road? And is it route 74, or exit 69?

Thanks,

If he's directing you to the Willimantic River in the Kollar Wildlife
Management Area, it's lurking behind the I84 west-bound rest area near
Stafford Springs.

Get on I84, and eventually get off exit 69, which is for rt 74. If you had
been heading west, you take a right at the first stop sign; if heading east,
make that a left. Either way, your next turn is the first right off the
overpass, onto North River Road. The river will appear on your right in a half
mile or so, and parking spots will show up along the next mile.

This is a stream I reserve for Massachusetts' celebration of "Patriots Day" -
because Connecticut doesn't have such a holiday so it keeps their workerbees
off the streams ;-)
