The comparison to Hemingway is interesting but none-the-less educated
speculation.

Not all that educated, really. But, I suspect that if he was the writer
that many here suppose him to have been, he would also have been bright
enough that the suggested parallel wouldn't have been lost on him.

I think it's pretty damn funny when a pipsqueak like you is contemptuous
of a towering literary figure like Hemingway.

i am puzzled by your assessment that wolfgang, by filing that post, is
being contemptuous of papa.

That's because you can't even ****ing read.

History (if there is any worth speaking of in the future) will judge whether
Harry served better as president or precedent.

True, (though I was looking more to the past than the future):

wolfgang's style makes for a very big onion,
and requires some patience in peeling. still, much can be gained in the
performance of that duty.

The only thing gained in that exercise is smelly hands and
watery eyes.

On a completely other note, he kept peacocks. Wouldn't it be totally cool

think ralph steadman...that'd be it.

good god--ralph steadman--i think he taught me con law in summer school
before my first semester in law school, 1966...

wayno (well, if he didn't, he should have)

if true, then you'd definitely be...um...changed. steadman was hst's
illustrator of choice... his work can also be seen (and appreciated) on
the flying dog brewery labels.

Tedious.

Wolfgang
who notes that Ernst Mayr and Ossie Davis died a couple of weeks
ago.........odd, who's missed and who ain't.

excellent point...but one must never assume that what's writ hereabouts
has such meaning or revelation, eh?

jeff (even tedious has a certain beauty at times, imo...like a 12 mile
walk to catch 6 inch fish g)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........BANG!

Last year I was down on Cape Cod and at 5:30am until around 6:45am one
of the worst lightning storms came through. Man it was a Duisenberg.

In the aftermath I was going to make my sig "When the dawn came up
like thunder", but Stev got it first. So I decided on "When the dawn
makes you **** your longjohns".

It molded me, man.

Gary
"When the dawn makes you **** your longjohns".

Um, if you could change your longjohns sometime between now and when we
fish, it would be appreciated.

um...in the spirit of harry frankfurt, ph.d.... "bull****". why do you
write such crass, meaningless stuff? of course, i can "hear" your voice
and see your grin as you might be saying these words, but they read
differently. i've lost track of why or where you two went off the rail
with each other, but responses like the above... well, you can do better
and, to my knowledge, are better than such a statement reveals. and, i
have evidence beyond any reasonable doubt that wayno can read, though i
admit its only circumstantial that he can do so while in flagrante delicto)

I've thought wayno was a dick ever since he left a drunken, obscene

beat you to it. i've felt that way about you since you showed up at
waldo's spring fling in the blue ridge around 2000 with a contempuous sneer
on your face that remained in place the entire 'clave.

but i must apologize for that message from penn's in 2003. i thought i
was calling george will. the resemblence is uncanny.
