Stocks Reservoir

Finally bit the bullet and had a few hours today. Feet numb with cold
(that's diabetes for you) but hands ok (surgical type gloves with
finger ends cut off). First time I've tried this - it worked. Slow
start nothing for an hour but finished with 9 rainbows/blues. Average
was about 2lbs but one raindow about 8lbs. Floating line size 10
goldhead black tadpole fairly fast figure of eight retrieve. The east
bank is now open to bank anglers as far as the causeway for those who
know the water.

Hi keith, you have my sympathy. Was it a case just being cold, or a
circulation problem.?

If I fish stillwaters I prefer to wear my walking boots with decent loop
pile socks. These I find warmer than wellies.

Bit of the both. I should fish less and walk about more that would
help but you get a nice spot, the fish start pulling and you stay in
one place......

You did better than me.
I had my first visit on Monday, and managed 5 rainbows, but had to
work very hard for them.
Covered most of the west bank from the stream as far as Grange Point,
but never managed more than a couple of takes at any one spot.
There were a couple of lads fishing in the shallows at the corner of
Hollins who looked as if they had a good few fish round them, but I
was on my way back so I didn't bother giving it a shot.
Like you I fished a floater and had all the fish on a size 12 black
buzzer. Couple of reel screaming takes as well. Good fun so early in
the season.
