Not surprising coming from Bates college. I have sometimes wondered if any
of those college students have any work to do.. they seem pretty bored and
have to make up drama like this.
This could be from their fiery anger over losing the bear hunting ban they
wanted over the last election.

To help put it in perspective, this might be the same whackos that were
petitioning for Maine to leave the United States and were laying in the
streets for some other half-wit cause I don't remember. Funny they don't
like people catching fish but they'll stuff themselves full of McDonalds
burgers and Tofu made by 10 year olds in the filipines working 12 hours a
day while wearing their leather and suede boots.

These people are dangerous in that their aim is to destroy all outdoor
sports under the guise and funding of abused puppies on TV. Our only hope is
to teach our children the joys of fishing, sportsmanship, and conservation.

I just posted a link on my site to a news article from MaineToday.com that
starts:

"LEWISTON, Maine — A Bates College alumnus who says it is inhumane to
catch fish has asked his alma mater to get rid of a student fishing club.

In a letter to the president of the private liberal arts college, J.
Coulter Leslie cited recent studies on fish sensitivity in branding
recreational fishing a cruel activity that the school should not tolerate.

"Bates College would never sponsor a club that impales dogs or cats with
hooks through their mouths," Leslie wrote, "but treating fish this way is
no better."

Leslie is an outreach coordinator with People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals, a Virginia-based animal rights group which has launched a
campaign called the Fish Empathy Project."

Amazing!
