![]() "Jarmo Hurri" wrote Now that's a first-class contribution! I left it on my computer. My personal favorites were the river with lots of dead trees and the blue, calm lake. And the atmosphere. Thanks! There are no lakes in the slideshow .... I'm pretty sure that the photo you refer to, one with lots of puffy clouds reflected in the water ... was taken standing IN the Henry's Fork, about waist deep between Osbourne bridge and Wood Rd 16 , for those that know the area I point this out only because a large % of people that see the photo assume "lake" and because many people that have never had the chance to go there are amazed at just how flat, my favorite flat waters really are. FWIW, the current is actually strong where I was standing, strong enough to make upstream wading against it a chore , and it's not at all like fishing stillwaters ... the current has thousands of tiny little ripples caused by weedbeds and 'drag free drift' is both essential to fool fish and damn difficult to achieve The river with lots of dead trees is probably a picture of the Firehole, below Midway Basin, if it's the photo that comes to my mind with that description ... Yellowstone has lots of dead trees from the '88 fire. They are starting to fall and nearly everyday you hear a few come down. One very windy day near where the Madison starts I was nearly crowned by one toppling down as I walked back to my car from the river ... I avoid them when possible |

![]() "Larry L" wrote There are no lakes in the slideshow .... opps, I re-ran it to be sure I remembered what pictures I'd put in. The shot of the Yellowstone Cutthroat was taken while in my kickboat on Yellowstone Lake, and there is one shot of the grassy banks of the Madison with Hebgen Lake in the distance, but I was fishing the river that day G |

I just took another look at the photo, and it sure does look like calm water. No wonder it's one of your favorite waters.
