Bob,
I tweaked and prodded a TV18 as much as I could and came up with the following conclusion...it's a slow a$$ boat. I rigged a 2.5L EFI, tried jackplates, trim extenders, two dozen props, did everything I knew short of serious engine mods, and it's a .....60 mph boat. I believe it's matter of the tin not being able to make precision chines, and pad configuration, and no matter what else, the bottom is well...wobbly. All those creases and bumps add up to just slowing you down. I've seen some 18 foot aluminums that'll fly, I just rigged an Alumacraft with a 150 Yamaha, and it's running 64 with no tweaking at all, so all I can determine, it's just a straighter boat. "Bob La Londe" wrote in message ... Why is it that the speeds listed for the Tracker Tournament V-18 seem so low for the various HPs listed? Is it because of generic setup or because you can't push a v-hull any faster? I know of glass boats (heavier) of similar sizes that are much faster with the same size motors. Speed checked with my portable GPS. Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com Fishing Forums Free Lures Every Week Local Members Tournament |
