Frank,
My wife and I are headed to Fayetteville to see the kids the end of May.
Maybe Lt. Jay can get some MRE's on base to sample. Last field rations I
consumed were C-Rations. The peanut butter was ok...

anybody got any good ideas for "add water" or "open a can" foods to

throw
in this kit? ..... something that doesn't taste like cardboard,
prefered

Gotta swear by the new MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat). Some of them are
awesome. I keep a couple in my truck for just those situations.

I do a lot of backpacking and mostly stay away from the specialty camp foods
(too pricey). I like the Lipton red beans and rice and their Spanish rice,
but one of my favorites is Lipton "Noodles Parmesian" with a bag of tuna
thrown in; it's a taste you'll be familiar with if you've ever been to a pot
luck dinner at a Lutheran church.

I don't think I qualify on the Lutheran pot luck but reading the 'recipe'
brought back a flash of vivid taste memories from my youth in the mid-west.
The tuna/noodle/parmesian flavor combination must somehow escape the
Lutheran churches and invade the entire culture .... religion has been
responsible for worse atrocities, I guess G

are these available somewhere I might be able to get them? I gather from
Guy's comment that they are military issue?
