Nipping braided line

After reading about the benefits of braided lines for the past couple
of years, I decided to put a spool on my baitcaster - Stren 40lb. One
thing I noted right off the bat is you just can't cut this stuff with
standard nippers. Even good scissors have difficulty. What do you
guys use?

Gerber's Braided Fishing Line Scissor's work good, about 3 bucks.

Sharp knife.

The scissors on my Leatherman Wave usually does the job. I also picked up a
couple surgical scissors from the big table of stainless and medical
instruments that I've seen at several fishing shows over the winter. These
tools are mainly made in Pakistan, and some of the stainless steel is the
old style stuff that won't keep a good edge, but if you rummage through, you
can find good, sharp, sturdy scissors for just three or four dollars.

I use the scissors on my mini-leatherman. But several guys I know swear
by KIDS Fiskars available at walmart and the like for a few bucks. Round
nosed, so you can keep 'em in your pocket, and amazingly, they cut
superline pretty well.

keep them attached to a litle pin-on retractor. Some of the best money
I ever spent.

Kids Fiskars. Yep, the little round nosed ones for $1.79 @ X-Mart. I
keep them attached to a litle pin-on retractor. Some of the best money
I ever spent.

I may have to make a stop at the X-Mart today. I have been going
through 2 or 3 clippers a month. The first few cuts are great, after
that is just makes a depression in the braid :-). I have my berkley
braid scissors, and they work alright, but what i would give for a nice
clean cut on that stuff!

I'm in total agreement with Harry. I've bought all kinds of different
scissors, only to be made a believer in the Fiskars. I think I bought mine
at OfficeMax for $2.00.

A razor sharp Benchmade knife. I hold the tag end in my teeth and give the
line a swipe. Bingo, it's cut.
