I am sending the information to About and they will send you a contract to use this material - I don't remember getting one from you. Please remove my copyrighted material until you sign the contract and pay the fee. Ronnie Garrison http://fishing.about.com For those who are interested in copying information from other sites, etc...there is a great site that talks about copyrights and the many exceptions is at: http://www.copyright.iupui.edu/quickguide.htm The most common exceptions are what they call "fair use" and "education" purposes. IMO, a good test is whether the materials are being republished for the purpose of making a profit. If it isn't and you're not posting a whole bunch of information...chances are you are ok. However, if you're making a profit off of em' or using a bunch of someone else's information...chances are you're stepping over the line and infriging on someone else's work. This is not legal advice. Talk to an attorney in your state if you have an issue with this. This is just a "my opinion" reference for folks here that might want to post a picture or article from another site...or "hundreds" of articles...: -- Dwayne E. What he had done was copy an article from my site, with five pictures in it, and posted it on his as an article from him. I was pretty mad when I found it and did not see the email to him on that page or to a webmaster so I posted here and other newsgroups knowing he visited here. It was the only way I knew to contact him at the time. I am pretty sure copying an article and pictures and posting the whole thing as yours is a copyright violation. He did not even link back to my site or give me credit. He did leave "picture by Ronnie Garrison" under the photos. Since he sells advertising on his site I guess that means he is making a profit from my article he posted? |
