Default Lake Arlington Bass

I saw the 7/22 post from arccos and wanted to add a couple of beginner
questions. First of all, arccos, if you're still here have you had any hits
and if so what type of bait/lure? I've been out there twice with my kids
and still haven't had even a nibble? Where do you fish on the lake? I've
been at the end of the left finger (when entering from Windsor) with no
luck.

I too am a a beginner never having fished before but having gone out 4 times
now (twice with luck in Wisconsin, no luck in my "home" lake). My luck in
Wis. was with live worms on a large lake catching panfish and smallmouth.
At home I'm trying fake lures with no luck, so I'm starting to lose my faith
in fake lures.

My setup has always been using prepackaged 12" snells attached to the bottom
of a bobber. I'm wondering two things:

1) Should I be fishing "deeper"?

2) If I'm going to use a hook tied to the line rather than the snell, do I
tie the bobber onto the line somehow or just thread it onto the line?

Thanks for any tips.

Regards,
Ron

I've gone out a few more times, but actually haven't caught anything.
In fact, I haven't seen very many people catch anything... looks like
the father-son team getting hits every second cast were either very
lucky or very well prepared.

The fish at the lake seem to be pretty smart... the only thing close to
luck I've had is them continually tearing the live worm off the hook
instead of chomping the hook. My next attempt is going to consist of a
small ring hook with a bit of worm on it. I don't really want to mess
with minnows and such, since I usually just go out for just a couple
hours.

Haven't been able to even get a nibble with the lures I've tried, and
have not seen anyone catch anything at all with one.

The only place I've ever fished is where everyone else seems to fish...
sounds like right where you are. My guess is it's a small lake, not
much cover, and probably not alot of fish in it. I'm only continuing to
try because its so close. Alot of other lakes around here would
probably give you better luck.

I'll let you know if I ever end up catching anything on it with what I
used. Good luck, and if you see a 20-something male wearing a blue
"Maui" hat, stop by and say hello. :-)

-Arccos
