Default Finnesse Soft Craws

I think Brad's hit the nail on the head Bob, go to the MH spinning rod. I
see guys using too light rods all the time, mostly with the same results. A
six pounder in cover will make mintsmeat out of that medium rod. The wide
gap hooks couldn't hurt either.

I know you're a fan of Mesa baits, Gilbert makes the best softcraws I've
ever fished with...

I'm thinking a wider gap hook would help too. I really like the slider
jigs, but I think a 3/0 or larger gap would hook up better. I have some

jig
molds, I may try to modify some and make my own. Maybe use a standup jig
head instead of the slider head.

I had the hooks rigged skin hooked. All the way through the plastic,

and
then the point tucked into the skin of the craw.

Man, you shoulda been able to get a good hookset and not lose that many

fish.

Probably need to beef up the spinning rod a bit to a medium heavy from

your
medium.

I agree. Gilbert has some nice craws. I'm not sure where he is going with
stuff though. The www.TackleSupply.com website is down.

The Fishing World Store is still operational though.

He also doesn't have all the designs and colors listed on-line for ordering.
I'ld call him on his cell phone, but I hate to catch him at work to place an
order.

Lannes over at Sportsmen's Hide-A-Way has a few Mesa Tackle plastics on the
wall, but not a huge line. I'm not sure what Lannes is planning on stocking
in the future.
