Default PNW autumn mini-clave anyone?

Doesn't seem many folks from our side of the mountains are going to be
making it to the U.P. or to N. Cackalacky, so.....

I am planning to be camping somewhere around Maupin on the Deschutes for
four days sometime in mid-October (I'm thinking 12-15, but could change
that to 19-22 if necessary). Any PNW roffians who would like to accrete
in pearly luster around my gritty presence for part or all of that time
would be more than welcome.....

In mid-October, both steelhead and trout fishing are in fine shape, the
splash-n-giggle crowd has all but disappeared, and it usually isn't too
cold yet to enjoy the early mornings and evenings. One can argue that the
steelhead fishing might be better then somewhat higher upriver, but Maupin
affords motel/lodge/cabin accommodations for those who don't want to camp,
not to mention better dining options.....

Any interest?

JR,

As I'm 22 days from entering the ranks of the retired severla trips to South
Junction are on
my "do to" list for this fall. I usually get one weekend trip/yr but this
year I'm hoping for more.
Perhaps we could arrange to meet,

Jeff

Very possible. Best to keep online discussions, though, to places that
actually exist. g

I'll be posting again on the four-day Maupin opp as the time approaches.

I've already made therapy appointments with a couple of rhododendron bushes
in Graham and Macon counties NC, but I do get to Portland and Seattle pretty
regularly on business, and I'm past due for a trip. I'd love to join you if
we can make the planets line up for a couple of days.

JR, now that I know that SJ doesn't exist I will make sure I limit my summer
steelheading to other
locations...although aftter 30 years of thinking it was there I might be
tempted to reuturn to my illusion.

I could also provide a drift boat for trips along the Macks Rd.
section....but that section of river
doesn't exist either.

looking forward to further posting.

You bet. Crazy time now for me with house **** catchup etc, back east family
stuff etc, and Im getting mighty tired of not fishing sooooooo... October
sounds good to me. I did just catch some fat E.Chain Pickeral out of an
unspoiled pond near Davison's Mill (hint for you New Jersey Dogs) but thats
my summer so far.

OK. I've noticed, though, that I was reading off the calendar wrong. The
dates would be, Thursday to Sunday, either 13th-16th or 20th-23rd. Got a
preference? If you can only make it for part of the time, that would be
fine too...
