Somehow I suspect that we are not that complex or unique as we like to
think. Either that, or we accept labels rather easily.

Mostly, we're willing enough to choose from among a highly restricted set of
options for ease of group identification. But even a cursory glance at
intra-group dynamics reveals that all bets are off at that level.

To put it another way, we take the path of least resistance in
distinguishing between "us" and "them" at macro levels. Descending the
scale, we find that we take ever greater pains in differentiation en route
to the distinction between "me" (good) and "you" (bad).
