You were right about them being overxposed. I'm trying to salvage a few
right now.

Where do I stand? Why after surviving four years in Vietnam in the
military and as a civilian, etc, etc etc but you are not interested in
that, I STAND for NOT posting political or ideological bull**** on a
group ostensibly dedicated to flyfishing! CLEAR?

David Napierkowski

Um, excuse me, General Nappie, but shouldn't that be "...four years in
the 'nam?" Of course, according to the quiz, I'm slightly-right-no-
no-too-far-a-little-to-the-left-no-back-a-smidge-to-the-right-now-down-
a-bit-no-no-too-far-now-up-an-inch-on-second-thought-move-it-back-wing
....oh, wait, that wasn't the quiz, that was my SO when "we" were moving
a large couch...

What I find interesting is that anyone would believe that these 10
fairly ambiguous questions could really determine anyone's political
beliefs. The "test" is bull****....I didn't take it either.

Exactly on 3 borders. Liberal, Libertarian, Centrist. I think it was
the 80 % on personal issues that got me that result.

Somehow I suspect that we are not that complex or unique as we like to
think. Either that, or we accept labels rather easily.

Their definitions are **** -- Liberal as in classic Liberal,
neo-Liberal, UK LIberal, Canadian Liberal or what? Conservative or
neo-conservative (neo-liberal anywhere else)? What happened to
Socialist, Communist, Marxist,. Marxist-Leninist, Trotskist? How
about Facist or Nazi? Plain old Authoritarian or Totalitarian?

Methinks the designers of this little quiz needs to broaden their
horizons.

The "quiz" was designed by Libertarians and its purpose
was/is to convince people that really, deep down we're
all Libertarians. It's a crock of ****, always has been.

That's pretty much what I figured when I noticed that the page is a
Libertarian web page. I think any way most people take it, they're
going to have Libertarian somewhere near their final score. I haven't
bothered to retake it enough to see the biases, but it's a fair bet
they're there. Mostly in the careful choosing of the questions.

However, I like their policies on personal liberties, so when I can't
find a candidate I like for any position, I ink their party nominee
in. I also do that to indicate my feelings about the major parties
not having acceptable candidates.

Ken Fortenberry - liberal, of course

No. It is as good an illustration of assholes corrupting an ostensibly
nonpolitical non-ideological group with politically oriented, somewhat
biased bull****. You folks may be bored with fly fishing as it seems
that 80 percent of the recent posts here have been of a political --
ideological orientation. Seemingly, you few and it is only a few, lack
the intellectual discipline to post this drivel that you would like to
see pass of deep insightful humanitarian concern, to a group that is
designed for this crap?

This may stun you but I joined this group to read about fly fishing,
and not read college freshmanisque ideological hand wringing inanities.
It does not really matter much though. I seldom read this group these
days.

Why do you feel it necessary to clog up the airways here with this
crap? Don't answer. You are bored and you are boring. I don't really
care what your political orientation happens to be. You fly fish as do
I. That is the reason I am here; not to listen to sophomoric hand
wringing on how evil someone of a different political orientation
happens to be or not be.

And sure anyone who dares disagree with the few rather vocal self
anointed political/ideological pundits here is sure to be ridiculed.
Big deal. It may be time to grow up Sir and try to act a responsible,
well balanced adult. Sorry. Too late right? That window closed on
you what ten - fifteen years ago? :-)

A Liberal? Who the hell cares? But as long as you are happy. I;m sure
the fish care a lot. ;-)

David Napierkowski
Probably a Libertarian.

Killfiles. Learn them. Love them. Use them. The minute you notice
a thread will irritate you, kill the whole thread. I have newsgroups
where the majority of the threads are killfiled and I happily read the
rest, unburdened by what I regard as whackos, rabid politicos, and
idiots with single minded crusades.

Um, it's actually an unmoderated newsgroup, not a forum. Yes, it
would be nice if we talked more about flyfishing. However, I haven't
seen you posting anything about it, or have I missed your username?

or are
you really just enjoying upsetting people of a different breed.

Some here greatly enjoy upsetting a few others, true, but we'd all
prefer to be teaching fish not to bite on funny things or learning
from fish how to imitate things they like to bite on.

you
sound like you need to get your Panties out of a Bunch

We go commando here until we discover Depends. No bunches.

Does anyone
agree that these badasses ought to visit a local charity instead of all
the memememememe's,and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiii's ??

Concise, yet to the point. ;-) Gawd, this sums up roff in a nutshell.
Unfortunately, some of those who have discovered Depends relish that
nice, warm glow.

Like it or not, the history of this group is a little bit off your goals
for this group.

By mutual consent of those who have been participating for 10 years or
so, any topic likely to come up during a fly fishing outing is fair game
here.

Check out http://www.cs.nmsu.edu/~jcook/ROFF/ for some details.

This is the way this group has been for ten years. If you don't like it,
you can a) try to change it, or b) go participate in some of the dozens
of other flyfishing discussion groups. One or two will surely be to your
liking.

If you opt for "a", we're all waiting to see your stellar contributions.
("Stellar", by the way, means "outstanding; like a star"). Of course, if
this is the route you take, be aware that those who have actively
contributed for a decade might draw the opinion that you haven't earned
the right to say word one about what goes on here.
