Default Pike fishing near Glasgow

Hi folks

Can anyone tell me where there is any pike fishing near Glasgow, except
Loch Lomond?

We don't have a boat so bank is obvoiusly prefered.

Cheers

Anywhere on these canals, pike are found in most stretches, but beware,
too close to Glasgow and your car could be broken into or stolen, or you
could be mugged for your tackle.

What !
You are a pratt, if that is what you really think.
In any case the OP is most likely a Glasgow
resident, and could use public transport, or
even a bicycle.

Pike are most likely to be found in areas of weeds
or shaded areas underneath overhanging bushes etc.
I have found that pre-baiting a likely spot with a
few sardines on successive days, will produce
good results.

Hope that is of some help, but see here..........

Warning issued by the Scottish Federation of Coarse Anglers

Security: The rural sections are generally ok, but there are risks to
cars parked in small secluded car parks. However, some of the sections
in Glasgow are dodgy. There are confirmed reports of personal violence
and threats to anglers and gear being stolen in Glasgow, at Firhill,
Westerton, Blairdardie and Maryhill, and in Clydebank. There is a police
presence on the towpath.

Strathclyde Park??? According to North Lanarkshire Council and the
Strathclyde Park Rangers there are no pike in Strathclyde Park Loch!

There are large pike in the golf course pond across the bridge from
Strathclyde Park but this is now a nature reserve and fishing is not
allowed. The other ponds covered by the Strathclyde Park permit only have a
few small perch.

There are however numerous cars broken into within Strathclyde Park every
day and the North side of the loch is a no-go area for the Police (the side
with M&D's "theme" park - the theme of course being Buckfast and Shell
Suits) and leaving your car for any length of time in this area is not
recommended.

Not only are there no pike in the loch but there are very few fish left at
all.

Initially there were bream, carp, roach, tench and perch but most of the
fish died. I have a friend who is a park ranger within the park and North
Lanarkshire Council have no intentions of maintaining stocks in the loch as
encouraging fishing is not a priority.

You would be very lucky to find anyone fishing in the loch nowadays as
although permits are still available and sold most of the loch is a no go
area due to the large number of young drunken gangs frequenting the park
from afternoon til evening.

According to Strathclyde Police there have been a number of recorded
incidents where anglers have been robbed and assaulted within the park
grounds.

Car crime in the car parks and surrounding area is rife and no matter what
time you visit the park you'll find various vehicles with smashed windows.
