Henry, I also like those "pond" trips...did one myself today. A friend
has about an acre pond with some pretty nice fish in it. I was out there
helping him finish ot a new pole barn today, and later in the afternoon
we took a break and wet a line...not much mystery to the pond, and we
caught as many as we wanted to. Still a fun experiece, even if the
challenge was a bit less than we normaly find on the bigger water .

But can you catch a catfish on a crankbait?

I caught a nice cat on a silver Rat-L-Trap .. was looking for bass during a
draw down in a deep hole but this thing took it before anything else could
get close to it .

I have cught several cats on crankbaits, from Deep Wee Rs to Floating Rapalas.
Biggest was a 9 pound channel cat that hit a floating Rapala minnow on top.
