Just to bring a little levity into the conversation, I don't know who is
right and who is wrong, all I know is I am freezing my butt off where I
live. I don't know when it has been this cold before. It generally doesn't
get this way I understand until we are in a nice warm climate, generally
January or Feb. My husband and I are snow birds. We normally don't have
the snow we have either. I would like some of that Global Warming right
now!

That's what you get for burning all your plastic insulation.

It's your own damn problem. All that plastic, gone.

Then you are a liar. Plastic insulation is made from oil.

When you burn oil, you are removing it from
the future reservoir of cheap plastic insulation.

It's kind of like shooting yourself in the foot, only worse.

How do you suggest I heat my house? Bear in mind you are talking to a lady.

Well, had you not so recklessly burned up all your
great grandchildren's plastic insulation, I would
have suggested you use the dissipating heat
from your electric appliances. However,
in the day you can use solar,
providing you have glass.

What makes you think that I don't do these things already? You call me a
liar and wasteful and you don't even know me or what I do to preserve
energy. I don't have solar unfortunately. But I do use the sun coming in
windows to add additional heat to the house. When I use the oven I leave
the door open till all the heat is gone to heat the house. We have the
thermostat that turns the heat down when we go to bed as we don't need the
heat when we are sleeping. We keep the house temp. in the day time at 68 no
matter how cold it gets. Not because we can't afford it, but because we are
trying to preserve the energy. If I get too chilly I have a little space
heater. I have only used it once. My stove is electric, my washer and
dryer are electric. We live in the country, we make lists, so when we go to
town we get the things on the lists, there are no unnecessary trips made and
sometimes neighbors go together. So don't always assume the worst of a
person when you don't know them. Maybe this isn't up to your standards, but
it is the best I can do to help. Oh and we recycle too. I could go over
and turn my heat up and be nice and toasty and warm, I could be all the
things you would like to think I am. But I'm not.

Methinks many are worse off than you.
