Time to replace the fish finder...
I use a Lowrance LMS-330C. It's a GPS/fishfinder combo. I love it.
It's color which is nice, it has a large screen so when I split the screen to do GPS and depth, I don't have to squint. For me with no sense of direction, the GPS is a must. It's a little above your price range, but may be worth considering. ridges54
