Man, you're more dedicated than I am. I have NEVER fished in 30
below........I really hate the cold. But then again, If I remember
right, you live where you have 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad
snowmobiling :-)

LOL, and he's in the south central part of the state. He has about two
months of better weather than we do up here.

But we REALLY appreciate it when it is nice.....

Here's the deal: They were not prohibited from fishing for bedding
bass. The bedding bass gave the angler's the best chance for the
heaviest bag, ergo they're going to bed fish. Unsporting as it may be
in some folks opinion, it's allowed by tournament rules, so it's going
to happen.

Had the Classic been held on a body water where fishing for bedding
bass is prohibited, then the angler's would have had to adapt. The
problem then would be enforcement.

The bottome line: the tournament rules don't expressly forbid it, so
it's permitted.

I personally don't fish for bedding bass EXCEPT when I'm fishing a
tournament, when permitted. Yeah, it's semi-hypocritical, but with my
lousy success rate, I can live with it, and the bass are in no real
danger from me.

Right, I really wasn't denying the fact that it gave the anglers the
best shot a winning as much as I was in disagreement with the fact that
B.A.S.S would hold the Classic in the spring rather than the Summer.

Oh well, it is what it is I guess.

Chris, you know I luv ya BUT...

First, bedding fish present the opportunity to grab the biggest sack
about 1 week out of the year on any water. Pre & Post spawn staging
fish are a much better bet.

Second, I was in central FL last week & believe me, the conditions were
totally not conducive (?) to sight fishing. It was overcast & very
windy the majority of the time, and Toho's waters were anything but
clear.

A cold front blew in the second day, and the final day's conditions
were about as cold n nasty as it gets in FL.

I wont get into the bedding bass morality debate because we've done
that 100x over here, but Mr Claussen was a humble & deserving champion,
the "anti-Ike" if you will. The general concensus of those there to
witness Mike's meltdown was that they were "Iked-out" anyway.

After seeing him there I tend to agree. Great champions win like
Claussen did, and they tend to loose in a similar manner.

Warren
