Well the good news is that if you keep the feed up to date, we'll know
when you do it without prompting .

yep, that is the ideaG
The feed is self updating ... when your reader checks it, my script runs,
scans the database and includes only the most recent articles in the output
.... your reader can tell what is new to you, that is it's job.

I have given up on meeting the geek challenge of joining three databases
and getting just the information I want from a query ... I spent half the
day yesterday reading up on sql joins and trying different approaches
without success, I've surpassed the limit of my perseverance for such a
topic ;-)

So,

I will build two other feeds for the site ... one for the 'my fly boxes"
section, just started, that will eventually contain tying recipes and
fishing suggestions for all of MY favorite patterns including 'my' many
slight variations. The other feed will be for an "IMO" section that is
planned to contain stories, opinions, rants, reviews etc on a variety of
subjects, fly fishing included ... one series that I plan to start this
summer will be "Wood Road to Last Chance" an in-depth look at about 8 or 9
miles of my favorite crick ...lots of pictures, fishing info, nature study,
personal musings etc. ( I make no claim to be either a writer or
photographer worth the names, but I think some of it will please people that
fish for the reasons I do )

Like any personal site, mine is of limited interest ... but with the feeds,
the few that are interested can have my sporadic additions come to them
without any effort on ther part, once the feed is added into a rss reader.

I think RSS feeds 'should' be a part of any webmaster's strategy at this
point ( um, I see a IMO article here :-) ...many people have nice personal
sites that deserve more attention than they get, many sites of good
potential dwindle because the updates never attract attention and the
webmaster loses momentum because his efforts aren't viewed ... RSS can help
a little
