Selection of boat for fishing

I used to have a small aluminum boat for fishing, but it got to be to
much of a hassle. I'm getting older and am retired. The wife and I have a
pop-up trailer and want to get a craft that will be easier for the both of
us to handle. We're thinking a canoe or an inflatable. We already float
tube. She spin fishes and I fly fish most of the time.
Any suggestions?

You can't lose with a john boat. A beamy 14-18 ft is light enough to
toss around and fits well on a pop-up.
It will do shallow streams and medium lakes.
A little astro-turf in the bottom and you can snooze between casting
sessions.
