Frozen North bass

I am still waiting to see what lake he was fishing. I really want to know!

Every Summer, I move from the south to the north for 3 months. In my
southern home state, big bass are the norm. I never catch many. A lot has
to do with the fact that I rarely fish for them. I'm usually in sal****er
bays. The few that I've caught have been in the 3 to 6 lb range, and those

I've never had the results like today or a few days ago. 6 bass 2 1/2 to 3
lbs in a 2 hour morning and 1 1/2 hour evening stint. They hit topwaters
like they never saw one before.

Now, a lot of the guys on this lake fish leeches on the bottom. They must
do OK since they all do it. I can't sit still that long.

Tell me , what is realistic for Wisconsin/Michigan etc. type lakes this time
of the year?

I can see a lot of water skiers and they think nothing of coming with-in 50
feet of an anchored boat. Fishing boats are anchored twenty feet apart. I
can imagine how much room the other fishermen would give me if they thought
I was on to fish. I hide my catches by turning my back to the other boats
when I quietly pull one out.

I'm happy to share this...5 or 6 or 7 feet of water; weeds..yes.. but not
growing all of the way to the top. I set up a Texas style long drift
depending on which way the wind is blowing; casting long casts way ahead of
the boat. It would appear that no one else fishes that way here. Maybe that
is a small part of my "luck".

I think you're right Rich. You're manufacturing your own luck, using
something other than "what we always used".
