AND the rain. You need to find an alternate playground. Might I
suggest any river/stream in Maine. I would love to fish Penns again,
but I've been stung twice because of rain. I't tough to spend half a
day driving only to find no fishing for a week. But, it is a fun
stream to fish.

It was very fishable on Saturday, just that we were not up, this early in
the season, for a cold, wet day outdoors. I would take Penn's over all the
streams in Maine, just for the unique challenges(ok, I would take Centre
County, PA
over all of Maine, but I quibble). That said, any hardy soul with a pair of
wet flies could have slaughtered them on Penn's Saturday, and I would bet
Sunday was fine. I can't think of a stream where weather isn't sometimes a
factor.
So be it.

Most streams away from farming country have no problems with the
weather. The rain run-off through the farms is what makes Penns
unfishable. I've been in Maine where it's rained for four days and
fishing was still good - no cloudy water. I'd drive down to Penns
today if I thought it wouldn't rain while I was there.

That is the problem with Penns. If there is a good rain, I know that Penns
will be muddier than the other waterways in the area for a longer time too.
