I'm planning to get a couple of days in Bend and might get a chance to fish the Fall River. I've fished the upper parts a couple of times, from it's origin to the bridge at Rt#4360/W.River Rd. with limited success, mostly small fish. Is the lower section, below the falls, a better bet? I missed this first time around. A few years ago there was a total fish kill downstream of the hatchery when a load of fire retardant was accidentally dropped in the river. It's coming back well, though. You won't yet find browns as big as they were before the accident, but there is pretty good fishing down there nevertheless. If you've never fished that stretch before, it's certainly worth trying. I'll probably be there one day next week, but I don't know which day yet. - JR |
