um......oh yeah, you're living in iowa, right? have you checked with
tsa about bringing a suckling pig as carry on?

I'll bring the NEBRASKA pig if you bring a sleeping bag for me. By the
way, if the TSA has seen any Monty Python, they may confiscate it.
Then again, I could smuggle the pig in my sleeping bag and tell them I
got breakfast at IHop.
I've been tying some micky finns, black nose dace, Electric Goats, and
assorted other streamers. Never fished streamers much, so want to try
some on this trip.
By the way, need body color, wing color, and size of the standard
caddis up there this time of year. I've got a bunch of Tom
Littleton's Coyote Uglies. That's my favorite caddis. Just want to
get the color right.

Well, technically, John is bringing your sleeping bag......but only
because I threatened to take up my Westconsin/U.P. travelogue where we
left off last year, but what the hell, pork is pork, ainna?

By the way, if the TSA has seen any Monty Python,

Judging by the sense of humor I've seen them display, I'd say there are
two chances.....slim and fat.

they may confiscate it.

Well, I've never seen a greased pig.....in an airport. Take
pictures.....LOTS of pictures!

Then again, I could smuggle the pig in my sleeping bag and tell them I
got breakfast at IHop.

Yeah, that would account for the smell......and the sounds could easily
be mistaken for some sort of gastrointestinal distress.

Oddly enough, I've had some truly awesome days fishing streamers on
U.P. streams that I could never match anywhere else. This COULD be
explained by the fact that I pretty much gave up on intensive streamer
fishing after discovering that I could actually catch fish fairly
consistently with dries, but the streamers have nevertheless continued
to serve me well when I trot them out up there. I know I've mentioned
it here before, on several occasions, but I really do get a kick out of
watching trout come up out of the water and then diving DOWN onto my
fly. It doesn't happen all the time, but the expectation is, in
itself, enough to keep me dragging streamers through those streams.

By the way, need body color, wing color, and size of the standard

The fact is that I've used just about every combination of wing and
body color imaginable......and I've never noticed any difference in
performance......size, too. These days, I work with 14s.....whatever
dubbing comes readily to hand.....and the lightest elk hair I can find,
for visibility. You can't go wrong with tan/olive/gray dubbing.
Bleached elk will satisfy both you and the fish.

I've got a bunch of Tom Littleton's Coyote Uglies.

Tell me about it. I spent the better part of a day back in April with
him and Mak.......um.....oh.......you mean flies, huh?

That's my favorite caddis. Just want to
get the color right.

In all seriousness, I really never have noticed that it makes a
difference.

fecker!

by way of hijacking this thread, I spent a pleasant evening
sitting in the rain with Mr. and Mrs Makela last night
(along with my beloved spouse) watching James Taylor
do his thing. Weather quite similar to our outing in the spring, Wolfie,
except JT sings better than Mike and I fish.
