Default Suitable reel for float and surface fishing for carp

Happy to stick with Shimano and looking to spend up to
around £50-£60. Any suggestions?

Though they are far from being Shimano quality these a pretty reasonable.
My brother has just bought a pair of Firerunner 502 from dragon carp. At
£29.99 by 1 get 1 free they're pretty cheap.

They seem well made and work well. My only issue with them personally is
the baitrunner free spool is silent rather than clicky like the shimano.

Be aware that all orders online are £10 delivery, however if you live a
reasonable distance from one of their outlets will probablty be worth it.

We drove to the Ingoldmels (Skegness) outlet. John (My bro) kitted himself
out with a full set of carping gear from here after getting back into
fishing from a 20 year laps!! I'm quite impressed with the kit especially
for the price.

Hi,

I have a Drennan Series 7 Power Carp Float 13' rod which I love - I use
it for float and surface fishing for carp in the 8-20lb range. I'm
looking for a suitable reel but am not sure if regular 'non-carp' reels
are tough enough. I currently use a Shimano Baitrunner 5000 but it's a
bit heavy duty. Happy to stick with Shimano and looking to spend up to
around £50-£60. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Martin.
