PS: Wife had a blue+gold macaw when we married...took me 8 years to get rid of it... Sounds like a good one, I'll check into it. My wife is an animal lover also, "except for big fish". I once caught a 41" leopard shark surf casting, got home and stuck it in on the refrigerator rack with the head facing out, then fell asleep on the couch. When my wife got home grocery shopping she opened up the refrigerator, saw the shark and screamed waking me up. Said, "get that F_ _ K thing out of here you Putz!!!" fwiw, -tom |

8 years to get rid of it... I hope you saved some feathers. In his _Tying Small Flies_, Ed Engle has a couple of patterns calling for blue-gold feathers. vince |

Many of you have seen the cool surreal fishing related paintings in Abe's. The artist is a cool guy named Dave Carpenter. He's a San Juan veteran and he loves to fish downstream of Baetis Bend. He told me that there was a fly that he developed that was very popular for a few years way back. It was called "pearl's revenge" and to tie the official pattern, you needed a feather from his Macaw, Pearl. Pearl's long gone but Dave still has some of the feathers. bruce h |
