Default Jasper/Banff National Parks

I've been told by SWMBO to take a vacation later this summer (August/
September). I'm looking at Jasper/Banff up in the Canadian rockies.
Anybody have any experience fishing or general outdoors stuff not to
miss there?

I just got back from Jasper (decided to concentrate on the northern
park
since I only had one week of vacation) and wanted to say thinks for all
the advice.

I didn't even wet a line although I brought my fishing gear with.
There was so
many other things to do I just never got around to fishing. I was
surprised how
few US citizens were up there. What a gorgeous location!!!

I'd post a couple photos, but I don't have binary newsgroup access.
Work just ZBB'd
support for Usenet so I have to use Google Groups just to post to
regular newgroups
now.

Anyway, thanks for all your help,
- Ken

Nice stuff. It looks like you basically took the same route that
SWMBO and I did the first time I was in Canuckistan. We went from
Calgary to Banff (stayed in Johnston Canyon cabins on 1A), then to
Jasper and finally on to Pyramid Lake.

It's amazing how few miles you can travel in a day in that country.
:-) Those shots bring back some fond memories.

And coming upon Mt. Edith was almost a spiritual event. I'll never
forget staring up at her and basically being compelled to sit down and
let it all soak in. The sheer size of it was enough to make me dizzy.
There was also an odd effect like I experienced the first time I saw the
Grand Canyon; your mind can't comprehend the size of it, and it just
sort of miniaturizes things to a scale that is recognizable.

The spousal unit has always wanted to go to Banff. Think we'll make
the trip. Absolutely gorgeous.

I was unable to enlarge the pics? Is this a design feature, or is it a
conspiracy against me?

Op --but what I could make out, absolutely wonderful!--

Well you are a PITA, but it should let you enlarge it. It's possible
that if you aren't using Internet Explorer it doesn't work quite
right? I'm using the latest Firefox version and it seemed to work
for me.

Just to be clear, I didn't make it down to Banff. Farthest south
I went was the Icefields Center. From what I heard Banff is
way more touristy than Jasper....not that there's anything
wrong with that.
