In August I took a holiday in Scotland at a place called New England
Bay. The site was right on the beach which was ideal for the family. Unfortunately, there was very little trout fishing in the immediate area but it allowed me the chance to cast a fly into the sea. I had spoken to an elderly gent who had pulled out a lovely fish of 4lb the previous morning on an incoming tide. I had all the kit except for my waders, but I thought "stuff it" this is too good an opportunity to miss, so on went the shorts and sandles! Took me a few days (actually evenings - have to put the kids to bed first!) of exploring the weed marks and broken ground away from the sandy beach but I was eventually rewarded with a fish of approx 3lb (which I put back). Apart from the fish, I have never fished in such a tranquil setting where thankfully the water was warm enough to fish without waders! A part of Scotland I have never been to before and so easily overlooked as you pile North, I for one will be going back. Sam |
