Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Butano and Pescadero both have steelhead, but I wouldn't call either a fishing destination. For an hour's drive? Sure they are, or at least used to be. I lived in Pescadero in 86-87, and caught 47 steelhead that winter. Yeah, they were half-pounders, but consistently catching 18-25 inch fish on a six weight is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, there are (again at least used to be) occasional silver salmon. IIRC, there's a diversion dam on Butano above which you can fish for resident rainbows. Maybe that's what the OP is asking about. If so, it may not be worth the hour's drive. We're talking 6 inchers, with bow & arrow casting. (Unless I'm confusing it with Bean Creek, a few miles south.) Has anyone fished either stream recently?
