Wouldn't it be awful if the canal you fish was closed because British
Waterways couldn't afford to put a finger in a dyke/breach? You may well have seen that boaters are up in arms about the cuts in grants to BW from DEFRA, all caused becaused DEFRA failed to give farmers their subsidies on time and were fined by the EU. However, believe it or not it seems everyone is actually supporting BW this time - and boaters, cyclists, walkers and yes, anglers are being invited by SOW (www.saveourwaterways.org.uk) to join forces to get the 6 million pounds reinstated. There is a danger that all the progress on improving our waterways could be lost. Any help/suggestions including writing to MPs/Milliband/Brown appreciated. |
