I only got about 3 calls.

I don't know how you managed that. The last week I got at
least 3 calls per day. One was even a non-automated call from the
actual candidate asking for me by name. SWMBO got it out of
him that I was being called because of demographic information
combined with my "not affiliated with any party" registration.
If that's why I'm being called so much I may have to change that.....

I got none, zero, nada. The one lady that came to the door who was
running for city council almost ran away in tears. She had all these
great "news bites" that she was gonna do, i.e. drop taxes, make it a
"destination city." Well, she had nothing to back it up. She lost.

I suspect the local bible thumpers put me on their "Do Not Knock"
list for similar reasons. I see them walking through the
neighborhood still, but they always seem to skip my house.
They apparently don't like it when you ask *them* in-depth
questions.

You'd think since they've got all the answers......

Ask them in, but don't let them leave. That'll get rid of em

Or pull a Carlin - meet them at the door naked with a beer and a joint
and ask them in to join ya...

Actually, the last time "they" (I didn't ask to which group they
belonged because I didn't care) showed up, some 3 years ago, I simply
said that we weren't interested, but we wished them peace and happiness
and to please save their efforts and not return. They (very politely)
persisted a bit, and I was equally polite but firmly told them they
needed to leave the property and if they returned, they would be
considered as any other criminal trespasser. They said they understood
and left. No one from any religious group has come back, no material on
the gate, or any other contact.

Actually, all the scabs have fallen off, leaving me with bright, clear
skin. I still have to go back in a month and a half for a follow up.
I have to admit, it was the most uncomfortable medical treatment I've
ever had. Other things, like a steroid shot into the shoulder hurt
like hell for a bit. This was 3 weeks of misery. Looked pretty scary
too.
I only had to have it on for 10 days, as the doc assessed the treatment
as fully effacacious at that point. Some folks need 5 weeks of the
stuff. I couldn't imagine that without putting me in a coma for the
duration.
Short story is: wear sunscreen and broad-brimmed hats.
The other issue that I've talked upon recently is our new Cabelas.
Really nice. Smaller than other Cabellas I've been too, but nice. The
fly shop is already asking for more shelf space as they have one of the
highest sales rates in the store. Who would'a thunk it, that in the
black hole of fly fishing, the fly shop at Cabelas is going great guns.
Then again, we only had one store that sold fly fishing material and
that was only two shelves.

By the way, by day 10, a little bit of sunlight on the face felt like
an instant heavy sunburn. Don't ever want to do that again.

My dad just had a photodynamic therapy treatment a short time ago. Cool
stuff (might just have saved him from an esophagectomy--time will tell) but
it makes the sun pretty deadly for a week or two. Google up "photofrin"

I'll bet. Glad to hear you're on the mend, Frank.
