So I had the bright idea of contacting some flyfishing outfitters in
Mongolia to see if any of them would be interested in hosting us;
providing shuttle and transport services, doing the food shop, etc.

Sounds outstanding, but how do you say, "This river don't go to Aintree" in
Mongolian? :-)

Oh, Lordy...I can hear the, um, dueling ruans now...and I'd suggest he
learn what "he shore does have a purdy wai guo mouth..." sounds like in
Mongolian, too...

Seriously, though, it sounds like a blast.

And Myron - have you thought about contacting some of the smaller
equipment companies, like TFO, Tibor, etc., as well as some larger,
non-sports companies, like Dell, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc. If this thing
is gonna get a photoshoot, and you've an interest in sponsorships, you
might as well become the insert NASCAR driver name here of Mongolian
canoeing. And FWIW, you might be able to get airline interest
sponsorship; airlines are drooling over the potential of China-related
air travel, and the Chinese airlines are turning to American
low-cost/regional airlines, like Southwest and Jet Blue for advice. The
short story is that such a novel "expedition" might garner some interest
from airlines. I have some other ideas, if you'd care to take it to
email.

TC,
R

These all sound like interesting ideas, rdean. Like they say...cast
your net far and wide, and see what happens.
