I have learned this morning that one of our swappers has just
suffered the loss of his 21-yr-old son. He has informed me that a
friend will be completing his flies (a more meaningless commitment
at this time I can't imagine, but...); and consequently, he will be
a bit late in getting his flies to me. I will hold the swap
pending those flies.

My condolences also, although I don't know who we are talking about, I
certainly (as all of us do) understand the sadness of loss. Losing
someone so young is horriffic.

I agree that posting here is not inappropriate, but in many ways, its
possibly unwise. If someone is in deep need of support or
encouragement, then its quite risky and even foolhardy to look for it
online, ROFF or otherwise. On the other hand, friendships here are
quite often real friendships IRL, and posting here is just another way
to discuss something in the open.

I, for one, found a great deal of support from this group when my son
nearly killed himself in his snowboarding accident three years ago on
Valentine's Day. He was overwhelmed when I put all the well wishes
together in one document and printed it for him. The fact that such
great support came from all over the globe was no small matter for him
or me. My guess is that our unnamed comrade will appreciate the well
wishes. Yeah, this place can be a bit rough at times, but sure wasn't
when it really mattered to me.

So bite me, ROFF. ;-)
