I requested information a few weeks ago from the group and received lots of
good information and advice. I took the 7 ft rod back to walmart and yesterday picked up a Pflueger Purist 8 1/2 ft 6w rod from a local fishing/hunting store. Going to order a double taper floating line and other things I'll need. The extreme cold weather finally broke here and it's been in the 50's so in another week or so I plan on heading to a local pond to start practicing. Again thanks for all the advice. Mike -- JESUS IS LORD! Mike, good choice on returning the 7ft. and going with a long length fly rod. I think you'll find the 8 1/2" a lot easier in learning the cast. Have fun and enjoy the hobby of fly-fishing. fwiw, -tom |
