For those reading this who have not been to a ROFF clave, have no fear and
attend one at your earliest convenience. These boys and girl(s) are like
big cuddly teddy bears when they don't have their computer monitors to
shield them. ;-)

Brings up a good point for me... When I first started reading ROFF eleven
plus years ago, I really wanted to attend a clave to meet some of the folks
that I have virtually met on ROFF. Over the years, I have met a couple on
fishing outings and would like to meet others such as yourself. Over the
last few years, I have lost interest in attending a clave for fear that I
would meet up with one or more of the people that conduct themselves poorly
on this newsgroup. I seriously doubt I could bite my tongue or hold back
from kicking someone's sorry rear.

It is unfortunate that many of the regulars have left or been run off.

I do however enjoy ROFF, not for the mud slinging, childish behavior or play
ground fights, but the few and far between fly-fishing tips/tricks, TR's and
sometimes a good laugh.

Save a worm, tie a fly!

I'll bet you could. ;-)

Nobody can get "run off."

I think some of the disagreements you mention are necessary for several
reasons. Readers need to know the writer's reference. Many writers can
appear to give expert advice and unless someone else calls their bluff,
which usually ****es off the writer, people new to the sport will be left
floundering with bad information. Unfortunately, there are some who
absolutely cannot take any form of criticism or cannot realize another point
of view and come unglued when a challenge is issued.

This place just needs a good enema from time to time. I miss Peter Charles,
Willi, Waldo, etc. and I miss wayno's wit and more regular posting habits,
but things change and people move on depending on their fancies at the
moment.

.. . . and, yes, laughing is good, and is sometimes richer when it's at your
own expense. IMHO, people need to lighten up, let some stuff slide by, and
not be so defensive. But, hey, what do I know?

I agree, however I think you know what I mean...? It's internet bully's I
tell ya!

Very true, however when it comes to the name calling, personal insults and
bringing family into the mix, I don't think it has a place on ROFF.

I miss those and others as well. A great deal of the expertise that was once
here has moved on to other forums. Many that are left probably have a great
deal to add, however it over shadowed by their spewing of name calling,
etc...

Yep...
