Heh heh....seems to me you aint perzackly the best one to be dishin out
advice.

actually, he is damned near ideal. He has been through this himself, taken
some lumps, had his moments, and still can come back with restraint,
dignity, class and humility.
Some others never accept the realities of this place.
I can remember times when Dave said "enough" of posting here, but never said
"I will NEVER return". Mike has done so, what, about 18 times?
Let me take this chance to thank David for the kind words of praise
regarding local expertise(mine is vastly overdone, but thanks for your
kudos), and point a VERY key point out. As Dave said, a lot of folks here
post good Trip Reports and banter about fly fishing and fly tying. Read
their posts and next time, notice this: very seldom do words like "always",
"never" or other absolutes come up. A lot of words like, "I might be
wrong","perhaps" and the like are written. Only one current poster seems to
come to ROFF and write as if he is imparting the wisdom of the Gods,
suitable to engrave on holy tablets. To my knowledge, only one current
poster has at any time mentioned his highly regarded reputation in the world
of fly fishing. Only one has come to this place and informed all the others
that they don't know anything about fly fishing(well, a couple, three have
joined in, but they remain anonymous), which was, if you read back a bit,
the trigger for me to jump into this thing. Now, I am only speaking for
myself, but arrogance and pomposity **** me off, pure and simple. And,
sadly, that is how I view Mike Connor's ROFF legacy. Sad, as I enjoyed his
doggerel, gleaned info from his observations at times, and bore him no ill
will. Hell, I had the famous Dumbo exchange a few years back, but buried the
hatchet publicly and privately with him. I never really cared about the
Homosexuality opinions, even if I shared Scott's surprise that he expressed
them(still, it was his right to do so, and thus his
lot to have to defend them, as well). Sad, truly sad, it is that we are left
to remember an unstable, intemperate outburst as the current final chapter,
following a period in which he seems to have discovered his own
infallability. Maybe after a period of sober reflection, that won't be the
case........
......ever hopeful,
Tom

I've got a "highly regarded reputation in world of fly fishing" and
you all mention it all of the time. Whats up with that?

WE mention it, not you(generally). Key difference, plus
your reputation is largely built on self-deprecation, a concept that has
eluded Mr.Connor, at least in everything I have read of his........

Mr. Connor is the undisputed master of unintentional self deprecation.

You misspelled "self-destruction."
