I'm thinking of bringing meats for our fishing trip in July. Anyone use a vacuum food sealer? -tom I use a Tillia. Vacuum pack fish for the freezer. Works great. Keeps the stuff very nice. The Halibut I got in Homer last July is still great shape. Commercially vac packed and sealed. For a fishing trip, I would just use the Baja Vacuum pack. Put the meat in a good Ziploc and submerge the bag except for the top in water, forcing out the air. Then freeze. You are not going to be storing the food for a long time and that is where the vacuum pack excels. Bill, I like that! Understand the idea of forcing the air out of the Ziploc by submerging the bag in water....excellent! Tried to do a search, but coming up empty on the Baja Vacuum Pack. Is that a stainless steel vacuum jar? thanks, -tom The Baja Vacuum Pack is what Jonathon Roldan of Baja calls the submerging of the Ziploc. Bill, Thanks, helps when tying a name to the idea for a search, but understand the concept. I'll use it when I'm in Alaska this July. -tom |
