On The Lake

there are a bunch of them on the Blackfeet lands .... you need a tribal
permit

I've never been there, so I can't suggest a specific lake .... I bet a
Google would turn up lots of links ...

I have fished and hunted on several different tribal lands in the west ....
obey the letter of the tribal laws and you will find it a pleasant
experience

I'll be picking up my wife in Great Falls on June 17th ( I think it is ) and
then heading slowly up and over to see Glacier Park. Then up into Canada
for Banff and Jasper. Mainly, I'll be playing tourist as my wife has
never seen that part of the country and this part of the summer is for her.

But, I'll fish a day or two when in the Blackfeet area. And then I come
back to Great Falls to fly her home about July 1st and could probably be
talked into another day or two at the lakes or the Missouri or both at that
time, before I head back to the HFork.

Seems the period of June 15th to July 15th is prime nearly everywhere and
it's hard to choose between old true loves and new flirtations when both
beckon, tempt and tease.

I am headed to Alaska from June 17th -28
So
If you find that you are anywhere near Kalispell on the 15, 16th or after
the 28th

Duck lake is one of them. There is a book about fishing the blackfoot
reservation. I forget the name, but will look it up if you like.

Mountain Front Publishing. isbn 0-9636681. It's pretty good, and it has
a map that shows Duck Lake on the reservation, about 29 miles north of
Browning.

Be aware that the winds on Duck Lake can be (and usually are) gale
force. The winds come down from the park and, with nothing to slow them
down until they hit the Foshay tower in Minneapolis, they howl.
Putting up with the wind does have its rewards. The rainbows are huge
and plentyful.
Also be aware that there are few facilities on or near the lake. Stock
up in Great Falls. Browning has few, if any, fishing supplies.
