Manhattan Pier Fishing

Not too sure about the city side but there are always people fishing on the
Jersey side at Liberty state park, you can catch stripers, bluefish and from
what i hear the occasional fluke. Might want to talk more with people over
there

I don't fish that area. But I pass by that area occasionally. I
don't recall seeing people fishing from that side of the Manhattan
island. On the other hand, there are quite a number of people fishing
from the east side of the island though. I don't understand why.
Accessibility doesn't seem to be a factor because both sides are
accessible considering the large number of people walking, jogging,
biking around the waterfront. Hopefully someone knows more can share
some info about this.

I guess I shouldn't assume people fish it now... but proposals for
future development call for a "fishing pier" along that southern
walkway, along with some sort of ecological pier where Pier 32 once
was.
