It was the ****in' hex! ![]() Wolfgang Walk there you say? Sounds like un-nerving fun. Yeah, that's what I thought when I first heard about it; you'd have to be drunk, stupid, and suicidal even to try. Then, when I saw it in placid early morning conditions, it was plain that you'd have to be drunk, stupid and suicidal to fail in the attempt. However, it doesn't take much of a change in conditions for the odds to tilt very seriously and immediately in favor of doom.....and as I'm sure you know, this area is justly famous for sudden changes in conditions. Nice TR. Thanks, I've been learning from a master. ![]() Wolfgang |

Twenty-five years later, I went back up to Door County, Wisconsin this past February, just for a weekend road trip. (giant snip) very good selective detail, and a very entertaining piece of work. i knew you could do it. ![]() yfitons wayno |

![]() "Wolfgang" wrote ... [snip great TR] Sonofabitch! It was the ****in' hex! ![]() Thankfully, your TR is far closer to "art" than that stuff sold as such in Door County. Thanks for posting, it made for a nice read. Dan ....whose wife will be forced (OK, asked) to read the description of Door...hopefully your clarity will help explain my disdain for the area. |

When I grow up, I want to visit some of the places in your stories. Be advised that in travel, as in medicine, a second opinion is never one too many. Note Dan's response.....well, the second half, anyway. ![]() Wolfgang not to be negative or anything. i mean, at least you get independent confirmation that THIS place actually exists.....outside the author's fevered imagination.....thus making a visit, if not necessarily equal to the dust-jacket blurbs, then at least possible without the aid of either prescribed or proscribed chemical fuels. |
