Hi,
Just a quick question about a pike I caught yesterday. I caught a pike that was about 3 feet long. As I have no scales, I have no idea what it might have weighed. Would anyone be able to give a rough estimate as to its weight? Andy. |

The table you reference unfortunately does no go small enough (!) for the fish I caught, however in the section on pike lifespan I found the quote "For example one fish which was tagged at a weight of 16.75lbs and with a length of 36.5in was aged at 14 years." From that I would guess that the fish I caught would have been somewhere around 15lb? Not bad considering I was using my daughters 4 meter pole with 2lb line! (Perhaps I should add that I had no intention of catching pike; We were fishing for roach - the pike took one that we were pulling towards the bank). Andy. |

It's often the case that pike, when not 'bullied', will come in on light tackle. -- Elton Murphy - Anglers' Net http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/ The UK Online Fishing Magazine |

It decided to let me have a good look at it before letting go of the roach on the surface. Took me about 10/15 minutes to get it to the surface on my 4lb line (2lb hook length). I was using a medium light feeder rod with a 1oz tip. Thought I had hooked a massive bream at first. Good fun though. MC |
