Mr.Miller is merely being eminently sensible ( and fair). Something
you are also apparently quite unable to grasp.

You can hurt and damage people here with words, but you can´t stop
them doing it. You can at best merely try to show them what it is like

I have no desire to be roff's "peace keeper", and I doubt Jeff is lobbying
for that position, either. What I see is a bunch of adults acting like
little spoiled children, and jumping in at that level would solve nothing.

everyone else's expense. None of you have no desire for anyone to point out

You can´t speak for most folks LaCourse. There are lots of people
about who think lots of things which have nothing whatever to do with
reality. There is nothing I can do about it, even if I wanted to.

I don´t need to check back LaCourse, my memory is excellent. I knew
his name perfectly well, I had just sent him a brand new reel which
had only been used for a few demos, a number of spare spools for it,
and a box of brand new lines.

I have absolutely no interest in removing you from anywhere LaCourse,
even were I capable of it. I am merely interested in trying to stop
you attacking me at every possible opportunity, or even without one.

You and your cronies have done your absolute utmost to **** me off
LaCourse, and although I was surprised at the depths to which some of
you will sink, it has had no other effect on me except to increase my
determination. Any sensible person would have seen that long ago, and

See LaCourse, another eminently sensible example. He is also not
supporting me in any way with those comments, merely being sensible,
and he is also correct.

There are a number of others who feel the same way LaCourse, they just
can´t be bothered crossing swords with you, as you have proven time
and time again that you are simply incapable of seeing sense.

I have tried to ignore you, and merely concentrate on fly-fishing, it
does no good, you have to keep putting your oar in with personal
attacks. I have even gone down to your level and tried to bore you
with a good helping of your own ****, but it does no good.

In the meantime, I don´t really care much what you do. Other people
here don´t want to see the group ruined by the likes of you and your
nonsense, I really don´t mind much. If you manage to disrupt this
group to the extent that it fails entirely, that is also fine by me.

There are plenty of places where I am welcome LaCourse, where people
are sensible, well mannered, and talk about fly-fishing.

Why should I do that? It is a fact that some people from ROFF
actually tried to attack me on a couple of boards, and giving a list
of the boards to which I contribute would only encourage them to do
the same again. It did them no good, and they were either banned or
censured immediately, but it causes unpleasantness. I now use
pseudonyms on most boards, and although the moderators know who I am,
not many other people do. Since I have been doing this, there have
been no more attacks. Which also proves that the people involved were
purely interested in attacking me.They are not only stupid, they are
incorrigible.

I don´t think Fortenberry would do it, it is just not his M.O. he
thinks he owns ROFF, but I don´t think he even really cares much about
fly-fishing, so he would not normally even go to other fly-fishing
boards. As far as I am aware he has never contributed to any, but I don
´t know that.

Of the others, some apparently want others to believe that they know a
lot about fly-fishing, but they can only maintain that illusion here,
and so they would not really have any reason to visit other boards
either, the only reason for doing so is to learn about or discuss fly-
fishing, or related matters. Some of the bull**** posted here would
immediately be torn to shreds by knowledgeable fly-anglers. The "depth
of knowledge" on ROFF is really a myth some here like to propagate.
There are one or two people who will be able to answer most questions,
but people like LaCourse are just bull****ters.

Their desire to do me some harm overrides any sense they might
otherwise possess. This is largely a result of Fortenberry´s
propaganda. The dumb Oakie even keeps spouting it, as does LaCourse.
There are one or two sensible people on whom it has had no effect,
Jeff Miller is one, and also one with the courage and backbone to
speak out about it. There are other too, but they just don´t want to
get involved in crap like this.

I don´t have to prove anything at all on ROFF. Neither what I am, nor
what I know. Nobody is forced to take my advice in preference to
anybody else´s, and I really don´t care much what anybody on ROFF has
to say about it. I am always willing to learn, and if somebody points
out a mistake, or shows me a better method, then I simply accept it
and move on. Indeed, I have learned some things from listening to
Willi Lohman (Sp.? ), and others who have posted to ROFF in the past,
but people like LaCourse and the Oakie are apparently mainly
interested in blowing their own trumpets, and not in helping others.
Most unlikely that one will ever learn anything from them, apart from
the price of an expensive fishing resort, or the name of some nasty
Japanese whisky.

Anyway, it is entirely up to you what you post. I warn you now
though, there is no way you can prove anything at all to these people,
they will believe what they want, regardless of any facts you might
present. Indeed, it is very definitely better not to give them any
information at all, as they will merely misuse it.

As to motivation, I really don´t know. Ego? Jealousy? The need for
adulation? With Fortenberry it is mainly his need for control, which
is typical psychopathic behaviour, some obviously even think that
denigrating others makes them look good. Not a lot one can do about
it. If you post to ROFF you are basically on your own, and if you make
yourself noticed in any way you WILL be targeted by some nutcase. That
´s just how it is.

Hi John,

difficult to ignore them, apart from the abuse on the newsgroup, they
blocked my e-mail with a load of rubbish as well. I know I should have
more sense than to take notice of such idiots, but I was a member of
that group for a long time, and it really gets me that they would post
such stuff!

Anyway, after all this mail I am uploading the site again, check the
site again in a couple of hours or so. Although of course I am aware
of the number of daily hits, I did not expect to get that much mail as
a result! Hopefully the site going back up will be answer enough, as
it will take me ages to answer all these posts personally!

There will be some more annotated PDF´s going up this week on wet
flies mainly.

Even though I have reinstated the site this time, you should copy
anything you need from it, because it will be going down in four
months anyway. It simply costs me too much to keep it up. Apart from
the basic fees for the server space etc, I have to pay extra for the
traffic beyond a certain point, and this has been well exceeded every
month up to now and is increasing all the time.

you claim to be so well respected and I've never uttered a
single word of official complaint to any of the numerous ISPs
you've been forced to employ over the years. I do belong to
the Wisconsin Fly Fishing Forum and I am an avid fly fisherman.

What sticks in your craw, and the thing that drives you nuts
is that I have friends on roff. A lot of friends. I can go
fly fishing from sea to shining sea here in the states and in
many international locales as well and meet up with a friend
or two from roff. I've made enemies, sure. An outspoken asshole
such as myself will always make enemies along the way but by
and large I'm just as proud of the enemies I've ****ed off as
the friendships I've made.

As for you, you're just ****in' nuts. No one with a temperament
like yours and a skin so thin has any business trying to be part
of an electronic forum.

two ISP´s since I started using the internet( apart from G-mail which
I am going to be using less as it is unreliable for me) and I still

As for the veracity of this post, I would suggest that readers
consider your truthfulness in the past and use a grain or two
of salt before trying to digest it.
