DT or WF

I used to think farther / more distance was better, for the past few
years I am using slower rods and fishing smaller waters and my casting
is closer I have rediscovered the the double taper line. Do you feel
that the DT is all we really need on our Eastern trout waters. Just
curious on what you all use and why..........maybe since I am getting
into being a Senior citizen, I like the idea that the DT can be reversed
so I can save $$$$$$$$ :rofl:

If you are casting at close range it makes no difference whether you
use a "standard" DT or a "standard" WF. If you use special tapers,
then there are WF lines much better suited to close range fishing.

Joe the elder replies-----with an average cast of 12 feet {five ft of
line -five feet of leader and two feet of tippet] I don't think the type of
line on your reel makes much difference. More important is the action of
your rod--In Joe Humphrey's book "Trout Tactics" he says his ace system for
deep nymphing is monofilament !

by the way it seems dna tests are proving we should not mention our heritage
without realizing we all originated in some part of Africa------guess if I
want a tag it should be "old black Joe"

If you decide to replace your "Indian" shtick with "black" shtick
you're gonna want to be *real* careful about how you refer to

Cut the DT line in two store one half in the fridge for a couple of
years. 45' line and 8' will get you to most fish.

Cut the DT line in two store one half in the fridge for a couple of
years. 45' line and 8' will get you to most fish.

Absolutely excellent advice. I´ll second that. Just make sure the half
line in the fridge is in an airtight zip-lock bag as well.
